Why ATATURK UNIVERSITY?

The history of Atatürk University is the realization of one of the important dreams of the Republic of Turkey. The founder of the Republic, Mustafa Kamal Atatürk, stated in his speech at the Turkish Grand National Assembly on November 1, 1937 that a large university should be established in Eastern Anatolia and gave instructions to start work in this direction. .

After Atatürk's death, these works were suspended for 12 years and were brought back to the agenda in the 1950s. The commission created in 1951 decided that the Sharq University would be located in the city. With the law numbered 6373 enacted in 1954, the university was named "Atatürk". A collaboration has been established between Atatürk University and the University of Nebraska through the USAID Organization of the United States of America. Therefore, the young faculty team of Atatürk University benefited from the technical and academic research experience of the University of Nebraska.

Firstly, the university had engineering, linguistics, engineering and architecture faculties. Currently, Atatürk University has 17 faculties, 5 higher schools, 15 secondary schools, 6 institutes and 16 research centers.
